- Abstract:
- Aerial color infrared photo mosaics of the Yellowstone River corridor. The image resolution is one meter and they are in MrSID format. The images were collected between August 3 and August 6, 2001. These images range in size up to 155 megabytes.
There is a pair of images for each county, from Sweet Grass to the confluence with the Missouri River. The same image for each county is available in UTM zone 13 coordinates and in Montana State Plane coordinates.
Photo dates on a county-by-county basis are McKenzie and Richland on 8/5/2001, Dawson on 8/3/2001 and 8/5/2001, Prairie, Custer, Rosebud, and Treasure on 8/3/2001, Yellowstone on 8/2/2001 and 8/3/2001, Stillwater on 8/2/2001 and 8/6/2001, and Sweet Grass on 8/2/2001. All images were obtained during the day between 9 AM and 3 PM.

- 1:24,000 scale 2001 Color Infrared Aerial Photo Film Positives
- Beginning date: 08/03/2001
- Ending date: 08/06/2001
- Process step:
- Color infrared film positive aerial phography was scanned at 600 d.p.i. using a Leica Planimetric scanner. Photgraphs contained 25 percent overlap, therefore, every other frame was scanned. The scanned imagery was then processed using ERDAS Imagine 8.4. Imagery was orthorectified using ERDAS/ OrthoBase. USGS digital orthophotography was used as the horizontal reference source and 30 meter digital elevation models were used as the vertical reference source. The U.S. Geological Survey camera report was used to obtain the interior and exterior orientation and other specific camera information needed in Orthobase. Ground control points and tie points were created. Nearest neighbor resampling method was employed to produce an orthorectified image.
Once orthorectified, the imagery was clipped to within approximately one mile on either side of the Yellowstone River centerline of flow using an area of interest (AOI). Images were then mosaiced using ERDAS mosaic tool. The overlap function was set for no cutlines and overlay. Image matching was not performed. Mosaiced images were compressed at a 20:1 ratio with MrSID geospatial encoder 1.4.
