Abstract:

This archive contains the Montana Weed District Esri file geodatabase that was on the Montana State Library web site at the end of 2013. It appears to be identical to the file that was archived from 2012. The geodatabase contains a feature class of county boundaries and a table, each with contact information for the county weed coordinatore. The table additionally contains cell phone numbers of the coordinators. The feature class is also archived in Esri shapefile format.

Each County in Montana is statutoraly mandated to have a Weed Control District. Each district has a Weed Coordinator. These coordinators are in charge of helping citizen manage/control noxious weeds. This data has each Weed Coordinator listed along with website and contact information for the County Weed District. The legislation that oversees the creation, maintenance, or dissolution of this type of district is MCA 7-11-1006. The weed districts are based on county boundaries. The weed district attribute information for this dataset was collected from the Montana Department of Agriculture's Noxious Weed Program.
