Abstract:

Index to contour line and DEM data files that are downloadable from http://geoinfo.montanastatelibrary.org/data/flatheadbasin_mapping_project_2009. Each polygon represents the boundary of a contour line feature class provided by the original contractor. These small tiles were combined into larger datasets for download from the web site, so that there are groups of about 20 polygons in this data set that all have the same download URLs.

There are two types of contour line data files available. The first are ESRI File Geodatabases containing all of the detail provided by the contractor. The second are ESRI Shapefiles that have been generalized to reduce the density of vertices in the contour lines, using a ground tolerance of 1.5 inches from the original lines.

The Web_GeoDB field gives the download path for the file geodatabase corresponding to each polygon. The Web_Shp field gives the download path for the shapefile corresponding to each polygon.

There are two types of DEM data available. The first have a cell size of 3 feet and were developed from an unrestricted TIN of LiDAR points that were identified as ground returns. The second have a cell size of 6 feet and were developed from a TIN of LiDAR ground returns that were hydrologically enforced with a set of photogrammetrically digitized hyrologically significant breaklines.

The Web_DEM3ft field gives the download path for the 3-foot DEMs corresponding to each polygon. The Web_DEM6ft field gives the download path for the 6-foot DEMs corresponding to each polygon.
